Cherry Cream Dip

This recipe is a fruit dip and comes from my friend, Toni.

  • 1 - 3 oz. pkg. softened cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp. maraschino cherry juice
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice
  • few drops of red food colouring
  • 1 - 2 oz. pkg dessert topping mix
  • 1 tbsp. finely chopped maraschino cherries

Combing first 6 ingredients; beat until smooth. Prepare topping mix according to pkg. directions and fold in cheese mixture. Stir in cherries.

Chill to serve. Whip until fluffy and pile into a bowl. Add a few drops of red food colouring and swirl in.

Makes about 1 1/2 cups.

Shrimp Dip

This comes from my friend, Toni.

  • 2 cans broken shrimp
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped green onions
  • 1 c. tomato soup
  • 8 oz. pkge. cream cheese
  • 1 c. finely chopped celery
  • 1 c. mayonnaise
  • 1/2 pkge. gelatin

Heat soup. Add gelatin and blend in cheese. Add mayonnaise and blend well. Cool

Add celery, onion and shrimp. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Can be frozen as well.

Nacho Dip

This recipe comes from Lil and is a favourite.

  • 1 can refried beans
  • 1 lbs. ground beef (brown & cook until it crumbles)
  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced small
  • 1 onion, chopped fine
  • about 1 1/2 c. grated cheddar cheese
  • small tub sour cream
  • 1 small can mild green chilies
  • black olives, cut up small
  • shredded lettuce

On a large serving dish, layer the bottom with lettuce.

On top of the lettuce bed, layer meat and beans. Then add some tomato, onion, cheese, and sour cream. Continue to layer until you run out of ingredients.

Finish with a layer of sour cream and sprinkle with olives and green chili peppers.

Orange Cream Fruit Dip
  • 1 c. softened cream cheese
  • 1 c. marshmallow creme
  • 2 tbsp. orange juice
  • 1 tbsp orange rind

Whip together and serve with assorted fruit.

Crab Dip
  • 1 large can Snow Crab meat
  • 1 tbsp. ketchup
  • 8 oz. Phili cream cheese
  • 1/2 c. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. horseradish

Combine last five ingredients. Mix until smooth. Add crab meat & stir.

Refrigerate until ready to use.

Spinach Dip
  • 1 pkg. (300g) Green Giant frozen cut leaf spinach
  • 1 pkg. (250g) softened cream cheese
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 2 tbsp. Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pkg. (31g) dry vegetable soup mix (1 pouch)
  • 2 tbsp. finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • few drops Louisiana hot sauce

Rinse frozen spinach under hot water to thaw or microwave at high power for 4 minutes. Squeeze well and drain. In medium bowl, combine cream cheese and sour cream until smooth; add remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Serve in french loaf with centre removed.

Goes great with bread cut into chunks, crackers, and sliced vegetable sticks.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.

Homemade Blender Applesauce
  • Apples, sliced and peeled
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. sugar

Put all ingredients into a blender. Blend until smooth adding more water if necessary. To prevent browning, add 1 tsp. lemon juice prior to blending.

Tastes great warm or cold.

Seafood Sauce
  • 1/2 c. chili sauce
  • 1/4 c. ketchup
  • 3 tbsp. sweet pickle relish
  • 1/2 tsp. horseradish
  • 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

Mix all ingredients in bowl. Chill.

To serve, place in a small bowl for dipping. Makes about 1 cup.
