Use a plastic colander to hold your child's bathtub toys. You can use it like a scoop to collect small toys such as rubber ducks, plastic boats and action figures, and then just leave it to drain right inside the tub.

Chest Congestion?

Try grape juice in a cup. Microwave the grape juice, sip on it slowly and the juice will relax your chest walls, causing the congestion to be relieved.

Cure for headaches?

Take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.

Use air-freshener to clean mirrors?

It does a good job and better still, leaves a lovely smell to the shine.

Try a LITTLE apple cider vinegar and water, or, chew on a stick of celery to help you out.

A sponge mop makes quick work of cleaning a shower wall.

Foggy Mirror?

A light film of glycerin will keep steam from fogging your bathroom mirror.

Put a few drops of shampoo and warm water on a sponge or cloth to wipe down the wall. Rinse with clear warm water to remove any residue.

Dry Solution Shampoo?

Baby powder, corn starch, or cornmeal, all mixed with a little salt make excellent dry shampoos. Just put a half cup of any one of the three into an ordinary flour sifter along with a healthy tablespoon of salt. Sift it into your hair and comb it through. Wait a few minutes and comb out the dirt. You'll have a clean head of hair.

Hair Spray Residue?

Rubbing alcohol will remove the hair spray mist from a bathroom mirror.

Shower Doors That Sparkle?

Use a spray formulated for soap scum on tubs and tile. These products are in supermarkets — follow the instructions carefully. Let set a minute or two, then clean with a plastic scrubby. You may have to apply several times. Dry well with paper towels. You can also try white household vinegar for hard-water and soap-scum residue. Pour it into a spray bottle and saturate the doors. Wait a minute, then clean with a plastic scrubby, rinse, and dry. To prevent buildup, apply a light coat of mineral oil or liquid lemon oil furniture polish with a fresh cloth. (To avoid a slippery situation, don’t get any on the floor or tub.)

Splinter?

Try this: Reach for the scotch tape before resorting to tweezers or a needle. Simply put the scotch tape over the splinter, then pull it off. Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily.

showerTiles And Shower Walls

Keep tile and fiberglass shower walls clean. After washing well, apply a thin coat of car wax and buff to a sheen. This will repel most soap buildup and whatever does adhere will wipe off easily.

Soap Slivers?

What to do with all those small soap slivers? Put them in a cotton sock. The soap filled sock can replace a sudsy washcloth anytime.

Shower Curtains

Wash plastic shower curtains in the washer with terrycloth towels. Add a few drops of mineral oil to the rinse. This will clean the curtain and keep it soft and flexible.

Medicines In The Bathroom?

In most households, one finds the medicine chest somewhere in the bathroom. There is no worse place for it, for dampness harms most medicines. Store medicines in a dry place such as a kitchen cupboard.

Sore Throat?

Don't go to the drugstore and dish out $4-$6.00 for medication! Instead, buy a bottle of apple cider vinegar, and a bottle of black strap molasses and use it as a gargle. As ridiculous as it sounds, a teaspoon of both mixed with warm water will clear the mucous and phlegm from your throat and relieve the soreness!

Toothbrush Holders

Clean toothbrush holder grooves with cotton swabs moistened in vinegar.

Shower Heads

Here's a quick and inexpensive way to make your shower head like new again. Unscrew the shower head with a wrench. Make sure to place a towel over it so that you don't scratch it. Then remove the rubber washer. Pour equal parts of white vinegar and water into a pot, bring it to a boil and drop in the shower head. Let it simmer for about five minutes and your shower head should be running freely again.

Whiter Grout

Open bathroom windows if you have any. Put a mixture of half bleach/half water in a spray bottle, and spray all over grout. Come back in 15 minutes to check progress - reapply one or two more times if necessary. If you get further inspired, scrub lightly with an old toothbrush . Rinse with water.

While you're at it, spray some of the bleach water over the tub to clean that as well.

Unclog a drain

Clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka Seltzer tablets down the drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar - Wait a few minutes, then run the hot water.

Alka Seltzer?

Treat stubborn bathtub stains with a mixture of cream of tartar and hydrogen peroxide. By the time the paste dries, the stain should be gone.

Sour Bathroom Towels?
Take these steps:
  1. Don't overload the washer. Use a high water level so towels have room to circulate.

  2. Wash in hot water with the recommended amount of detergent, plus one-half cup baking soda. If water is very hard, you may need an extra one-quarter cup detergent. (You can also add one-half cup baking soda to the rinse cycle.)

  3. Put towels in the dryer right after washing; dry completely before folding. If the odor persists, repeat steps

To get rid of itch from mosquito bites

Try applying soap on the area and you will experience instant relief.

Please Note: I do not take responsibility should something unforeseen occur while using these tips. I've tried many of the applications found on these pages, and haven't encountered any difficulties.

Also, I get an awful lot of e-mail requesting help with this or that. If you don't get a reply, it's because I don't have an answer.
