First:
Purchase materials at craft centers. Use a wire base for fresh arrangements,
polystyrene for dried. Wrap 24 inch gauge florist's wire around
3 inch long bunches of bay laurel, santolina or tansy leaves and
stems for the background.
Next:
Starting from the inside, overlap and attach layers of the background
herbs in one direction until the base is covered to desired thickness.
Arrange leaves to cover stems.
Third:
Wrap fresh or dried tansy and any other contrasting leaves, flowers,
pods or berries that are available. Attach clusters with wire as
accent material.
Last:
Add ribbons, bells and seasonal items for an unusual gift. Hang
wreaths on doors and windows. Avoid direct sunlight. Wreaths will
dry and fade but can be kept indefinitely.
