1st step pictureFirst: A raised bed aids in weed and pest control and can be used to separate garden areas. Determine the size of the bed, assemble materials, mark off the area and dig a 2 inch wide perimeter trench. Cilantro 2nd step pictureThen: Place boards in the trench. Drive support stakes into the ground on both sides of the boards every 16 inches. Using lag screws, attach all corners and the stakes to the boards. Add copper sheeting to the top edges of the boards to deter snails and slugs.
3rd step pictureThird: Loosen the existing soil and work organic amendments into it. Water thoroughly. Add a mix of soil and organic matter to fill the bed. Water again.
